At Downtown Denver Dentist, your comfort is important to us. After all, our job is to make you smile! We offer many services to enhance patient comfort, such as laser dentistry, DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection, and clear, removable orthodontic aligners by Invisalign. One uncomfortable but necessary procedure is taking dental impressions.
Traditionally, dental impressions involve a putty that goes into the mouth. An impression is made when the patient bites down on the material. People with sensitive gag reflexes find the procedure very difficult. Others don’t like the taste of the putty. No one likes waiting on the putty to cure. In fact, we have yet to find anyone who enjoys a traditional dental impression!
But dental impressions are important. They give the dental laboratory technician an accurate “map” of a tooth and how it functions in the bite so that restorations can be fabricated to fit properly. This means, if you need a crown, inlay, onlay, bridge, partial, denture, implant, or customized oral appliance, a dental impression can’t be avoided!
It can be more comfortable, though…
Dr. Radz and our team are excited to announce digital dental impressions. With our new iTero imaging system (by Cadent), we can create 3D digital images as an ideal alternative to taking traditional dental impressions. The highly accurate iTero images are quick and easy to capture. No putty. No gagging. No foul taste. And they offer more precise data for the lab, as well.
Visiting the dentist can be comfortable and rewarding. At Downtown Denver Dentist, we’re staying on top of innovative technology, like iTero, to improve your experience at our office!
Call us today to schedule your dental checkup, consultation, or second-opinion visit. Dr. Radz looks forward to introducing iTero digital dental impressions to you and giving you one more reason to smile.
